On Monday 3rd March, a competition was held with Banbury Camera Club at their venue in Middleton Cheney. Our last competition with them was in 2023, as last year we felt we did not have sufficient work to mount a good challenge.

The format of the competition was 12 prints and 12 DPIs from each club and the judge was Dave Belton, who gave a thorough critique of each image. Prints were judged first, at which point Banbury were ahead with a score of 215 to SPG’s 214. However, in the DPIs we managed to gain a lead with 213 points to Banbury’s 208, so the final scores were: SPG 427 and Banbury 423.

The closeness of the final scores shows the quality of all the images presented and made for a nail-biting evening.
Notable images which scored 20 points were “Milky Way over St Adhelm’s Chapel” by Steve Hubbard, “I wish I could fly” by Phil Welch and “Skyward” by Cliff Armstrong, but congratulations and well done to everyone who contributed prints or DPIs to the evening.
